The Mastercard Foundation Africa Growth Fund is an initiative of the Mastercard Foundation in collaboration with the Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) and a consortium of partners. Each partner plays a unique role in the program based on their area of expertise.
The Mastercard Foundation works with visionary organizations to enable young people in Africa and in Indigenous communities in Canada to access dignified and fulfilling work. It is one of the largest private foundations in the world with a mission to advance learning and promote financial inclusion to create an inclusive and equitable world.
Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA)
We provide management of the Africa Growth Fund based on our considerable expertise in building and enhancing sustainable systems that provide decent work for systematically marginalized communities, including women and youth.
Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P)
We identify Investment Vehicles and Fund Managers who invest in small- and medium-sized African companies that add value to their communities. After careful screening to ensure eligibility for the Fund, we present them to the Investment Council for consideration.
Entrepreneurial Solutions Partners (ESP)
We deliver business development services to small- and medium-sized enterprises selected by the Investment Vehicles to ensure they have the business skills and financial acumen to succeed.
Our role is to apply our expertise in analysis, technology, and process to collect the data at all levels and stages to support the evaluation of the Mastercard Foundation Africa Growth Fund’s impact.
The Criterion Institute
Building on our history as a think tank, we provide assessment and support to ensure that the Fund’s gender equity, diversity, and inclusion goals are met.
Africa Communications Media Group (ACG)
As the first African-owned, pan-African agency providing communication solutions structured specifically for the complex and diverse African landscape, we provide the overall communication strategy for the Fund.
